Dr. Steven Gundry
Steven R. Gundry, M.D., is a cum laude graduate of Yale University, with special honors in Human Biological and Social Evolution. He subsequently graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine, and completed residencies in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Michigan.
For over thirty years, Dr. Gundry has been one of the world’s pre-eminent experts in heart surgery. He has invented a several medical devices, including the Gundry™ Retrograde Cardioplegia Cannula, Gundry Ministernotomy, Gundry Lateral Tunnel, and the Skoosh™ venous cannula, which is the most widely used cannula in minimally invasive heart operations. Dr. Gundry is a member of numerous surgical and medical societies, and is the author of more than three hundred articles, chapters, and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals on surgical, immunology, genetic, nutrition, and lipid investigations.
In 2001, Dr. Gundry witnessed the stunning reversal of coronary artery disease in a patient who was considered “inoperable.” This incredible change was achieved with a combination of dietary changes and nutraceutical supplements. It inspired Dr. Gundry to change the path of his career.
Dr. Gundry decided to leave his position as Professor and Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center and founded the Center for Restorative Medicine. He has spent 14 years studying the human microbiome and is dedicated to helping men and women learn how to live healthier lives through diet and lifestyle choices. Dr. Gundry has published 3 full-length books: Dr. Gundry’s Diet Evolution, The Plant Paradox, and The Plant Paradox Cookbook.
Dr. Gundry lives with his wife, Penny and their three dogs, Bella, Black Pearl, and Fanny Foo Foo in Palm Springs and Montecito, California. His two grown daughters live nearby.
